The Mexican Government is refunding the 14% VAT (tax) charged on some goods from some stores. The list of stores is growing, but as of today here is a list of designated stores in Playa del Carmen:

Playa del Carmen has a sub-tropical climate, which means it’s almost always warm, and can be very hot in August and September. The annual average temperature is about 27C or 80F and can be humid. Weather here is pretty reliable: sunny most days. When it rains it’s usually in brief bursts followed by sunshine. Where is Playa del Carmen?
Playa del Carmen is located on the Gulf Side of Mexico with beautiful beaches and water. It is one of the most attractive destinations in the Mexican Caribbean. Located in the heart of the Mayan Riviera, 68 km (42 mi) south of Cancun, it has an ideal subtropical climate with an average temperature of 25º C (77º F) and sunny days throughout most of the year. During the summer, the maximum temperature can reach 35º C (95º F).
