Los Aguachiles, one of the best restaurants in Playa del Carmen

Playa has no shortage of restaurants, but it amazes me how many outstanding ones there are.  If you want to be a tourist and eat at good restaurants, stay on 5th Ave.  If you want to be more like a local and eat at fabulous restaurants, venture off The 5th. If you do, you must go to  Los Aguachiles, one of the best restaurants in Playa del Carmen. There are now 2 Aguachiles in Playa, with more to open soon in Cancun.

Yesterday I could not wait to go to Los Agauchiles at their new location on Constituyentes, just east of 5th Ave.  Their original location is still at Calle 34 and Avenida 25 in Playa.  It was always worthing walking all the way there, but the new location is a block from Porto Playa Condo Hotel and 2 blocks from our other properties (El Taj Ocean, El Taj Beach, Maya Villa and Villas Sacbe

The original owner sold to a group of investors who kept the original concept and many of the dishes, and added a few more that I thought were delicious.  It’s cheap, it’s great, it’s close, and the people who work there are the best!  Thank you Rocio

You can order as many tacos ($1.90 per taco) with different fillings as you want.  I got smoked tuna, seafood, and shrimp.  Terry ordered ceviche, and we also got one of the best guacamole’s in town.  Drinks were great as was the service.

All the locals go to Aguachiles and once the tourists find it, there will be lines to get in, but it’s worth it.  The food is fresh and flavorful.  Even Trip Advisor rates it as one of the best restaurants in Playa.

Everything is reasonably priced, fresh and flavorful. Best bargain in town for outstanding food. Definitely 5 stars in a very casual atmosphere
