Playa del Carmen
The beaches in Playa are white, soft sand, no rocks and the water is crystal clear. They are very clean beaches and you can see Cozumel on the horizon. You can walk for miles. Playa has a law that no building near the beach can be taller than 4 stories, so you’ll not see any tall buildings which is part of Playa’s charm.
Playa del Carmen is a European as well as South American and North American destination location. Architecture is charming. People walk everywhere, including the pedestrian only, world famous, 5th Avenue. “The Fifth” is cobblestone, two miles long, and filled with restaurant and shops.
There is a ferry boat dock that will transport you in 40 minutes to Cozumel, ranked one of the top 5 snorkeling and dive spots in the world. Visit the ruins in Tulum or the cultural water park in Xcaret. Go zip lining at Hidden Worlds If you’re looking for a place with things to do, you’ll find windsurfing, deep sea fishing, and more. If you’re like me, and are just looking for a quiet place to walk the beach, lay on a chair and read a book, Playa del Carmen is the best place I’ve ever been to!
